Tate St PS Breakfast Club
The Tate St. Breakfast Club was initiated in 2003 by St. Matthew's Anglican Church and the Principal of Tate St. Primary School after it was recognised that some children were arriving at school without having had any food. This has proven to be a very worth-while venture in many ways.
For those children who have attended it has been really great for them to start the day with a healthy breakfast and also, importantly, to be able to socialise with their peers on the same level prior to starting lessons. The Principal and teaching staff have acknowledged that pupils who have been provided with a good breakfast are more able to concentrate and settle better in class. Further, it allows those parents who are struggling with finances or other problems to know their child/children will have a good breakfast at no cost to them.
Last, but certainly not least, the Breakfast Club volunteers find it a very rewarding experience and so encouraging when the children share their special little moments. This Club is an excellent way to show children that we care and are interested in each one of them. What a privilege!!!
