Music
Music in worship at St. Matts is a servant ministry. Jesus must increase we must decrease. When led by the Holy Spirit music has the capacity to transform everyday life and help people experience God's presence in deep and amazing ways.
By continually exploring and offering a wide variety of contemporary styles to aid worship in the church, music can create many opportunities for a two way connection to be made between God and those seeking Him - we expect that God will speak to us as we worship.
It is our taskit is our callingit is our pleasureto seek to connect Jesus and the people of God.
In Psalm 100:4 - we are encouraged to - 'ENTER HIS GATES WITH THANKSGIVING AND HIS COURTS WITH PRAISE'
Our first step is to bring ourselves, setting our faces in God's direction, stepping for a moment out of the distractions of everyday life in order to give our attention entirely to worship.
It's a choice we make, an entrance we deliberately step through
this is very practical because our hearts often need to be stirred to an awareness of Him, and our minds reminded of the marvellous truths about Him, before we can even begin to expect a "face to face' encounter..
Thanks and Praise is the best way of preparing us to draw close to God, enabling us to break free from the burdens of life, and an over concern with ourselves.
By it's very nature, Thanksgiving turns our gaze towards the giverand causes us to count our blessings rather than our troubles
and most important of all, it gives credit where credit is due - to the Lord
